Beautiful Old porcelain dog with basket

This is an antique Staffordshire porcelain poodle figurine. These figurines were primarily made in Staffordshire potteries in the 19th century. They were commonly placed in pairs on mantelpieces and were known as hearth spaniels. Although many breeds were produced, spaniels, particularly the King Charles Spaniel, were very popular, partly due to royal preference. This particular example depicts a poodle with a basket in its mouth with little pigs which is a unique detail
