Antique pot Creil et Montereau
The image shows the stamp of the French pottery factory Creil et Montereau. Creil et Montereau was a pottery and porcelain factory founded in 1840 through the merger of two rival companies: Creil (founded in 1774) and Montereau (founded in 1745). The factory was known for its transfer printing technique on pottery and porcelain, and produced the famous "Service Rousseau". The stamp in the image, with the letters "L.M. & Cie" and the words "CREIL ET MONTEREAU", refers to Leboeuf, Milliet & Cie, the name of the company between 1840 and 1876. The factory closed in 1920. This pot shows some signs of wear, see photos. It's practically a museum piece.
