Set silverplated knife holders

These are silver-colored knife rests in the shape of horses. They are designed to keep knives off the table or tablecloth during a meal, preventing stains. Knife rests were especially popular as wedding gifts and presentation items in the late nineteenth century. This set consists of six identical, polished metal knife rests.
