Marble mortar
€ 145,00
An antique marble mortar, from the 18th or 19th century. Material and Origin: The object is hand-carved from marble, often referred to as Carrara marble due to the grey veins, or comes from regions such as France or Spain. Design Features: Typical of these antique mortars are the four protruding "ears" or handles around the rim and a robust, rounded shape. Use: Although originally intended for grinding herbs and spices in pharmacies or kitchens, nowadays they are often used as decorative pieces. Beautiful in a country kitchen. I use it myself for my garlic and onions. Also lovely with fresh herbs in it, or try putting a tea light in it. Has a few small spots due to use and age; nothing major. w 15.5 h 10.5
