Old syrup jug

An antique ceramic pouring jug or syrup pitcher with a "buttery" patina, featuring a classic wide spout, an elegant handle, and a beautifully crazed surface. Such jugs were commonly used in the Netherlands for serving syrup, milk, or water. Today, they are highly sought after for country-style and *brocante* interiors. The discoloration of the glaze (the so-called "buttery" effect) and the fine hairline cracks (crazing) give the piece its authentic, time-worn appearance.
