Antique wasp cather
Antique mouth-blown glass fly/wasp trap – Unique pink/amethyst glass! (c. 1900) A beautiful, 100% authentic antique glass fly/wasp trap dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. This piece is particularly special and highly sought after by collectors due to the unique light pink/amethyst-like hue of the glass. This color is the result of a historical process known as solarization: the manganese used in the glass at the time to decolorize it has undergone a beautiful color shift after decades of exposure to UV sunlight. This serves as definitive proof of its genuine age and authenticity! Features: Material: Mouth-blown antique glass (clearly evident in the handcrafted feet and collar). Color: Subtle and unique pink/purple hue. Condition: Excellent, undamaged condition. No cracks or chips. Function: Flies and wasps crawl in through the bottom (attracted by, for example, sugar water) and are unable to find their way out. A stunning decorative object for enthusiasts of antiques, *brocante*, or historical glassware. Does not include a stopper. Large-sized wasp trap.
